David Cline joined the La Maestra team in May 2012 as Medical Director and Lead Interpreting Physician for the center’s Mammogram program.
Dr. Cline hails from Morton, Pennsylvania (suburb of Philadelphia) were he attended Cardinal O’Hara High enlisted in the US Navy upon graduation. During his four year enlistment, David was stationed on the USS George Washington Carver SSBN 656 where he was assigned to the deck division and became a Hospital Corpsman Striker. David completed Hospital Corpsman training in Great Lakes ILL in May 1983 and was stationed at the Philadelphia Naval Hospital. Upon completion of his enlistment, David matriculated at Widener University in the School of Arts and Sciences where he completed his BS degree in biology (1985-1988). Upon graduation, David received the President’s Award for academic performance, school involvement, and leadership.
David attended Creighton University (1988-1992) where he completed his Doctor of Medicine degree. During his senior year, David was voted by his peers the 1992 Aesculapian for guidance, compassion, and selfless service to the class, community and university.
David’s unique and broad back ground includes general surgery internship (National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda Maryland 1992-1993), and residency training in both Family Medicine (Camp Pendleton Naval Hospital 1998-2000) and Diagnostic Radiology (University of California San Diego 2003-2007). David achieved board certification from Board of Family Medicine in 2000 and from the Board of Diagnostic Radiology 2007. Dr. Cline also spent an additional year of fellowship training at Mayo Clinic Arizona concentrating on Breast Imaging and Musculoskeletal radiology (2010-2011).
Unique assignments throughout Dr. Cline’s naval medical career include: Flight Surgeon NAS Bermuda, Flight Surgeon VP4 NAS Barber’s Point Hawaii, Flight Surgeon HC11 NAS North Island San Diego, Senior Medical Officer Diego Garcia, Flight Surgeon/Family Physician MWSS373 MCAS Miramar, Staff Radiologist/Department Head Breast Health Center Naval Medical Center San Diego, Director of Clinical Support Services EMF Kuwait.
