Dr. Gibson received his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Summa Cum Laude, from the College of William and Mary in 1993. He attended the School of Medicine at the University of Virginia on a United States Navy Health Professions Scholarship, receiving his Doctor of Medicine degree in 1997. Upon graduation from medical school, Dr. Gibson was commissioned as a Lieutenant in the Navy. He completed his internship in General Surgery at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD in 1998. As a General Medical Officer, Dr. Gibson served with the United States Marine Corps for two tours of duty in Okinawa, Japan from 1998-2001.
Dr. Gibson trained as a resident in Diagnostic Radiology from 2001-2005 at the Naval Medical Center San Diego. Upon finishing his residency, Dr. Gibson became Board Certified in Diagnostic Radiology by the American Board of Radiology. He was selected for a one year fellowship training position in Body and Musculoskeletal Imaging, which he completed at the National Capital Consortium in 2006. After his fellowship, Dr. Gibson served as a staff radiologist at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD for five years before moving back to San Diego.
Dr. Gibson enjoys all aspects of Diagnostic Radiology, with particular interest in musculoskeletal imaging.
